Global Dignity

The first time I heard about Global Dignity project was a week ago. They held a Global Dignity Day Forum in Finland on 19th October. It was an event which was held a day before the actual Global Dignity Day which is set on 20th October. I learned after, that apart from this event the global dignity expected to reach over 100 000 youths in more than 50 countries this year. That's quite impressive. Looking at the blog after, there are several movies and pics coming everyday from all over the world. Dignity can be described in many ways and description varies probably a lot from where you are from. As being in Finland we might more think about how to increase the dignity of others while being in less developed country we first learn to respect our self and our own dignity. If you have about 4 and a half minutes to spare, take a look at this video. I think it explains shortly pretty well what it's all about. Well, I just felt like this is something I wanted to share and hopefully i

New old home

So the adventure took place in May and I am terribly late but here´s finally few pics from the way. Mom and me had one month to travel 750 kilometers from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. We didn´t walk all the way but both reached about 300 kilometers by foot and the rest was done by buss, taxi and train. It was an amazing experience and was really good to stay away for one month, it gives you a whole new starting point once you come back packed with good energy. Although it seems far now it was truly a memorable journey even though I didn´t experience any spiritual awakening but more like spiritual re-charging. Here's few pics from the walk. After the trip I worked all summer and cleared out some plans for the future. This time I have moved back home to mom and dad, again, and studying some international development and traveling to England for the weekend to attend some courses. It's been quite relaxing times and been focusing on my stu

Lucky sunny stars

I am convinced that I was born under some really lucky stars on 1983. There has been one thing that has followed me my whole life and that thing is The Sun ( no, not the magazine, but the actual yellow shining thing on the sky, you know, that sun). The old logo of Naantali I was born in Naantali, also called the sunny town of Finland. So apparently there is a lot of sun, though it's not that special, the typical cold boring Finnish weather is still there. But we could say it propably has a bit more sun then normally. Well lucky me, everything was in order once I came around, because the same sun seems to be following me wherever I go. In 2003 I moved to Tohmajärvi, a small village near the boarder with Russia. I must say it is around 700 kilometers from Naantali, so I took quite a leap. I didn't check the sun conditions before my settling in Tohmajärvi, but pretty soon I realized it had an abnormal amount of sun also. Great! The sun was on my side, again. It also had really nic

SPRING!!!

I feel spring is coming.. This is probably the most waited spring ever! The winter has been terrible and we really need sun now, we need the degrees to go above zero. Here is an example of the amount of snow on my lawn from this morning. Yes, this pile of snow you see in the picture is my height and I would be very glad if it would melt before June ( remembering there is another 5 of these piles of snow around the house..). The squirrel was a nice surprise this morning, actually the first one I see coming to steal the birds food. Well anyway, we are getting closer to the summer and adventure number one! Yes, the first travel plan has been made and tickets have been bought. That will be my one month holiday ( wow, can't recall the last time I had one month free from work..) and we are heading south. I will tell you all about it in the weeks to come.

Happy calves

Calves, those cute little things, so full of energy, so curious about everything, so happy!! When the work gets rough and feels like it never ends, so comes the miracle's of life to brighten up our day. One was waiting for me this morning, it's just few hours old in this picture. It's funny to watch them, while some are carefully discovering the world, the others are packed with curiosity and can be quite characters already at very young age. Our little Northern Finncattle is a very good example of a fast calv, before you have time to say "cow" she is gone from one place to another. Surprisingly still for a moment Luckily she gets tired also sometimes So that's about it for this Sunday. It's been bloody freezing and now more snow is falling down again... I guess everyone is pretty fed up by now, but spring is just about to come, little more patience and then this winter will end. Good luck for the people suffering with winter and heads up for the spring!!

To love life

Thank you lovely friends, I have got many e-mails and happy to see you people still alive, remembering good times we have shared. And so many dreamers around! Even John Lennon put it in the song " You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one..", definetely not the only one, I know it now for sure! One dear dreamer friend of mine, said something in such a way that made me think a lot. His exact words were ".. even if we have to face a lot of delusion and sufferance, we love life always more. More we suffer and more we love life." To live life is simple. Wake up, stay awake, eat ( unless you're on ramadan or hungerstrike or maybe extreme diet), do your thing whatever it is you do in your everyday life, meet people or stay alone, sleep. Living life everyday is just about the basics, but it could be missing the deeper meaning. To love life instead, that's where we get deeper to the life itself. That's where we put meaning even to the smallest

Free days almost passed but still loving it ;)

Whoooaaahh, it's been great! I had 4 free days from work and must say I have really took the best out of it. Day 1. Pure relax. I switched off my phone ( yes, you are totally allowed to do this, since mobiles people always think you need to be available at all times, but I do not agree, camoon, we all need some alone time sometimes), I slept around 13 hours, I walked to my neighbour to get some morning coffee ( 3 o'clock in the afternoon...), came back home and did absolutely nothing, just sat down and allowed complete laziness to roll over me. When working hard work with your body all days long, it is such a holiday to have a day like this sometimes. Day 2. Enough of the lazines, though I did sleep another 13 hours. Then it was time for cleaning action. Made the house nice and tidy, then I hit the road to Turku city, which is by the way the European capital of culture this year, if you are interested visit Turku2011 . I am not interested, to be honest, not at all.

Dreaming and milking

I was reading some earlier texts that I have written here... It's amazing how life changes, how different it was 4 years ago than it is now. That time I had just returned from Africa, I had come back home from a lifechanging experience. How full of hope and life I was that time, how much energy I had and how many dreams, how many plans. I am sure that all of us who went through that time in Denmark and after in Africa were more or less confused and changed by the time we got back home. Something happened, something that changed the way of thinking and feeling for forever, I could guess, since 4 years is not quite forever yet. In time, that confusion and change has found it's balance. I have given up certain things, build up a new life in more simple way. I never thought I could find such peace in the countryside. Before there was a text where I had written about dreaming and cleaning. I worked as a cleaner just to have a work, I really didn't enjoy it very much, but that ti

The year of (hopefully) new winds blowing

Yes, finally back at blogging. It's been forever, but since this year started all so well and with plans of new adventures, I decided it's time to write again. For a quick update. For the last two years I have lived and worked in the countryside. I studied cow farming and graduated last November. So there has been hard work, hard studying, but in another hand easy country living and the long waited time for myself and I only. Now that I look back at it, it's been such amazing times, filled with miracles of life and understanding of my own true self. So I think 2011 will be perfect time to start new journey, I have some big plans, I will tell you all about in the weeks to come. Right now, I am at home and it's almost time to head back to work. Cows are waiting to be milked ;)
